Qi gets 6 RBI as Miners Squeeze Past Ottawa
|
Sze Qi was instrumental in his team's 7-6 triumph over the Ottawa Nationals. The designated hitter went 2-4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 6 for the Marquette Miners. Marquette reliever Jin-guo Quan picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Rickey O'Day absorbed the loss. Jorge Vega was credited with the save for Marquette, his 1st of the season.
Qi contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Marquette in the bottom of the eighth. With his team trailing 6-3, Qi took a sinker from Rickey O'Day and stroked the home run to left. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Miners to leap in front, 7-6.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Qi, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
The loss drops Ottawa to 5-3.
