Lakers Get Close Win Over Cattlemen
|
Ft. Worth pitcher Robbie Betchley gave the Lakers all they could handle, but in the end, Echo Park left The Cattle Pen with a 3-0 win. Betchley allowed no earned runs on 2 hits over 7 innings. Mark Collingwood, the winner, improved to 4-6. He held the Cattlemen to no earned runs on 5 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 1. Corbin Holling notched his 24th save in 25 chances.
Echo Park used the bat of Freddy Torres to get the win. The third baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Lakers ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Torres. "And not try to do too much."
Echo Park is now 38-41, Ft. Worth 47-32.
