Piranhas Score Late, Stun Dodgers, 5-4
|
The Panama City Piranhas picked up a win at The Tank, knocking off the Brooklyn Dodgers, 5-4. Starting pitcher Harry Stuterberg, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Marvin Sidebottom picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-0. Elton Mobley was tagged with the loss. Panama City is in third place in the Third League with a record of 31-20.
The game ended with a bang. In the bottom of the ninth, with Panama City trailing 4-3, Johnny Carter jumped on a first pitch fastball from Elton Mobley for a 2-run home run, sending the Piranhas to a walk-off win.
Stuterberg called winning a team effort. "It's not the same guy every time," he said. "It's the sum of the parts."
