It was a fun time at The Cattle Pen, where the Panama City Piranhas and Ft. Worth Cattlemen tangled.
The Ft. Worth Cattlemen saddled the Panama City Piranhas with a loss at The Cattle Pen. The final score was 5-1. Ramón Rodríguez, named player of the game, was 2 for 4, including 1 single and 1 home run. The Ft. Worth center fielder scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Ft. Worth reliever Gil Brown picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Ernesto López was saddled with the loss.
The Piranhas had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Cattlemen going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 34-year old third baseman Sergio Ortíz came to the plate. Ortíz hit a 2-run home run on a 0-1 fastball from Panama City hurler Ernesto López. It was Ortíz's 3rd home run of the year.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Panama City manager Brian Talamante.
The Cattlemen bumped their record to 26-22 with this latest triumph.
