The Texas Bronze Sox did just enough to secure a 2-1 victory over the Santa Barbara Golden Cranes at Bronze Sox Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Carl MacPherson, who captured player of the game honors. The Golden Cranes, now 7-5, continue their sluggish start.
The Golden Cranes had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Bronze Sox going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old second baseman Dejmi Dumervil came to the plate. Dumervil hit a run-scoring single on a 0-1 changeup from Santa Barbara hurler Santiago López. It was Dumervil's 17th hit of the year.
"Both teams played hard," said Texas manager Juan López.
