Alloway Wins, Bugarin scores 3 runs
|
Halberds first baseman Greg Bugarin put his stamp on his team's 8-6 win over the Augusta Timber Hawks. Bugarin went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. He scored 3 times and drove in 2 for Alloway in the contest. Reliever Martin Besnier picked up the win. His record improves to 2-1. Gil Herrera took the loss. Yu-eh Mi was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 2 of 2 save opportunities.
Alloway used the timely hitting of Scotty Smalls to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Halberds on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," Smalls said. "We did a good job of that today."
The Halberds now have a record of 55-47 with the win over Augusta.
