Timber Hawks Prevail, 3-1, Over Florida
|
Pitcher Alfredo Córdova was sensational for the Augusta Timber Hawks in his team's 3-1 triumph over the Florida Men. Córdova received player of the game honors, while picking up the win. Augusta, at 44-38, occupies 6th place in the Silver AAA.
David Martínez had a big 2-run single for the Timber Hawks in the bottom of the third inning. With Augusta leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Tomás Mata and stroked the single to left. It was his 74th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Timber Hawks ahead, 3-0.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Augusta manager José Santos. "It's usually not just one thing."
