Nelson Hits 2 home runs in Fog Win
|
Cecil Nelson was instrumental in his team's 9-1 triumph over the Alloway Halberds. The first baseman went 2-5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice for the Sunset District Fog. Pedro Rodríguez, the winner, improved to 3-3. He held Alloway to 1 earned run on 3 hits over 6.1 innings, while racking up 7 strikeouts. With the win, Sunset District goes to 27-25, while the Halberds fall to 27-25.
The Fog grabbed the lead in the bottom of the fourth. With one out, Vonne Navarrete, who is tied for 8th in the SAAA in home runs with 8, hit a 3-run home run off Bob Browning, putting Sunset District in front, 3-1. For Navarrete, it was his 8th home run of the season.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Alloway manager Manuel Hernández.
