Timber Hawks Bridle Lake Monsters, 4-2
|
The Augusta Timber Hawks defeated the Vermont Lake Monsters, 4-2, in USSL Triple A action at Monster Field, with Augusta pitcher Katsumoto Miyanohara named player of the game. Miyanohara got the win, improving to 2-4. He allowed 8 hits and walked 0 over 6 innings. Miyanohara allowed 2 earned runs. Edmond McCord was called on to finish, recording his 2nd save.
Augusta used the timely hitting of Connor Petty to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Timber Hawks on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Augusta manager José Santos. "It's usually not just one thing."
Augusta has 3 straight wins, Vermont 3 straight losses.
