Hotspur Reserves Knock Off Men, 9-3
|
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Hieronymus Bosch, the Phoenix Hotspur Reserves defeated the Florida Men, 9-3. Bosch was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Hotspur Reserves. Larry Souder picked up the win with 6.2 innings of work. He allowed 3 earned runs on 6 hits, while walking 5 and striking out 3. On the season, he is now 2-0. Phoenix, now 6-10, is off to a slow start.
Phoenix used the timely hitting of Bernardo Rivera to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Hotspur Reserves ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was an important one.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Rivera told the Phoenix Bulletin. "It's as simple as that."
