Halberds Come Back Late, Nip Hotspur Reserves
|
The Alloway Halberds did just enough to sneak past the Phoenix Hotspur Reserves, 4-3, at Ballpark of Alloway. Alloway pitcher Peter Glenn earned player of the game honors. The win was Masaharu Sakata's in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Jason MacDonald took the loss for Phoenix. The Halberds, now 9-3, have been on fire in the early going.
In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 3-3, catcher Manny Gonzáles won it for Alloway. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Gonzáles hit a 0-2 curveball from Jason MacDonald for a run-scoring single, giving his team a 4-3 win.
"This place was rocking at the end," Glenn said.
