Lake Monsters Drop Another One
|
Augusta right fielder José Pinto was a significant contributor in his team's 4-2 triumph over the Vermont Lake Monsters. He was 2 for 3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for Augusta. Sam Pelsize got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. Omara Moctar picked up the save, his 1st.
Augusta took a 3-2 lead on Pinto's 14th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which he hit off Rich Choquette in the bottom of the seventh, propelled Augusta to the win.
In postgame comments to the Augusta Herald, Pinto said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
With the loss, Vermont is 4-7.
