Men Lose, 4-1, at Monster Field
|
The Vermont Lake Monsters got a stellar effort from pitcher Rusty Swanson, helping Vermont score a 4-1 win over the visiting Florida Men. Swanson, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 9, walking 1, and allowing 1 earned run. René Fontaine locked down his 1st save.
The Lake Monsters got a big at-bat from third baseman Naganori Takahashi. For the game, Takahashi went 1-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 2nd double of the season gave Vermont a 3-1 lead.
"It was a solid team effort," said Takahashi after the game.
The loss drops Florida to 1-3.
