Tritons Beat Lake Monsters, 7-6
|
The Jersey City Tritons beat the Vermont Lake Monsters, 7-6, at Monster Field. The Tritons got a fine performance from right fielder Santiago Valentín, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2-5 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Tom King was called on to finish, recording his 1st save. The win gives Jersey City a record of 1-1.
Jersey City used the clutch hitting of Raphaël Duval to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to give the Tritons the lead, 6-5. For the game, Duval had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Vermont manager José Zamora. "The effort was great."
