Whales Get One-Run Win at Lancaster

The Virginia Beach Whales defeated the Lancaster Farmers, 5-4, at Farmers Field. Jorge Díaz was named player of the game for Virginia Beach. His 4 hits included 3 singles and 1 double, in addition to the 1 run he scored and 1 he knocked in. Wu-shiun Lao got the save, his 9th in 13 chances. Virginia Beach is now 54-29.
Virginia Beach used the timely hitting of Ron Lawrence to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Whales on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
