The Chesapeake Continentals beat the Irving Blue Sox, 6-3, at Chesapeake Grounds. The win was largely due to the efforts of second baseman Kjartan Einarsson, who captured player of the game honors. He went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Dou-guan Shao converted his 12th save in 12 tries. Even with the win, the Continentals have a dismal 22-54 record.
Einarsson had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a first pitch fastball from José Colón, he banged a grand slam home run to left, giving the Continentals a 6-3 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Einarsson.
"We did a lot of things right," said Einarsson.
