Whales Come Back Late to Clip Continentals
Jorge Díaz made an impact in the 6-4 Virginia Beach win over Chesapeake. Díaz, who is tied for 2nd in the SAA in triples with 6, went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Wu-shiun Lao got the save, the 6th for him this season. Virginia Beach is now 47-25, while Chesapeake is 21-51.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, catcher Xavier Mercier had a key at-bat for the Whales. With Virginia Beach trailing 4-3, he banged a solo home run.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Mercier told the Virginia Beach Herald. "It's as simple as that."
