Continentals Outmuscle Phoenix Hotspur, 13-8
|
Phoenix Hotspur got a terrific game from second baseman Juan Hernández. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Chesapeake, 13-8. Hernández was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Mike Marsh notched his 1st save in 1 chances. The Continentals improved to 20-49.
Chesapeake used the bat of Bob McDougle to capture the win. The pinch hitter jacked a grand slam home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Continentals ahead, 11-8. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a dandy.
"I know we have our doubters," said Phoenix Hotspur manager David Márquez. "But I still have high hopes for this team."
