Fur Traders Drop Youth with Late Score
|
Grenadiers Ballpark was the site of a exceptional pitchers' duel.
The Fur Traders faced a stiff challenge from Phoenix Hotspur pitcher José Vélez, but persevered to claim a win at Grenadiers Ballpark. The final score was 1-0. Vélez went 5 innings and allowed no earned runs. Today's win puts Tacoma at 16-14, while Phoenix Hotspur falls to 13-17.
Tacoma used the timely hitting of Gilberto Ramírez to capture the win. The pinch hitter socked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Fur Traders ahead, 1-0. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was an important one.
"It was a good effort all around," said Ramírez.
