Blue Sox Pull Off Thrilling Win in Extras
|
Irving got a strong outing from Joe Holland as the Blue Sox defeated the Virginia Beach Whales, 3-1, at Virginia Beach Grounds. José Colón, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. Joe Martarano earned his 1st save in 1 tries.
Irving used the timely hitting of Ánibal Leobardo to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Blue Sox ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"It was terrific getting this win," Holland said. "We put in a lot of work to do it."
The Blue Sox now have a mark of 15-15.
