|
Tacoma got a terrific performance from pitcher Paddy de Klerk, but it wasn't enough to beat the Virginia Beach Whales. Virginia Beach won the Virginia Beach Grounds contest, 4-2. de Klerk was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 5 innings of shutout ball. Virginia Beach has run its win streak to 5 in a row.
Dave Thomas's at-bat in the bottom of the sixth inning was a big one for Virginia Beach. Coming to bat with one out, the bases loaded and Virginia Beach trailing 2-1, the center fielder grounded out, driving in 1 run.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Thomas.
