|
Getting a good performance from right fielder Manuel Ruíz, the Virginia Beach Whales defeated the Yakima Hops, 9-5. Ruíz went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Whales. Losses have been rare for the Hops, who are now 15-5.
Jamal Grant had a key at-bat with two out in the top of the fourth for Virginia Beach. With the bases loaded and the Whales leading 5-3, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," Ruíz said. "We did a good job of that today."
