Mercier Hits 2 home runs in Whales Win
The Virginia Beach Whales outscored the Lancaster Farmers, 11-10. Xavier Mercier led the way, going 3-for-4 for Virginia Beach. Virginia Beach reliever Danny Richardson picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Robert Alves was saddled with the loss. Virginia Beach, at 8-2, is off to a blistering start.

With Virginia Beach leading 7-6 in the bottom of the fifth, Mercier hit a slider from Matt Brown for a grand slam home run. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Whales ahead, 11-6.

"This team is real focused right now," said Virginia Beach manager Bernie Drake.
