Akron pitcher Mark Erwin did his part in helping his team beat the Bethesda Atoms, 4-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Erwin went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 5. His record improves to 1-0. Picking up the save was Hans Rager, his 2nd.

Akron took a 4-3 lead on Esteban Piñeiro's 6th hit of the season. The run-scoring single, which Piñeiro hit in the top of the seventh, left Bethesda pitcher Sébastien Leroy visibly frustrated.

"Being able to contribute to a win is always a great feeling," Erwin told the Akron Bulletin.

Losses have been few and far between for the Atoms so far this season. Their record drops to 3-1.
