Starks Sneak Past Reserves, 2-1

The Syracuse Starks faced a tough opponent in Athletic Club KC pitcher Ben Walker, but did just enough to pull out the victory at KC Reserve Stadium by a final score of 2-1. Walker went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Syracuse reliever Martín Aguilar picked up the win, upping his record to 3-4. Oliver Vázquez took the loss. With the win, the Starks improved to 42-59.
Syracuse used the timely hitting of Damon Newbold to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Starks on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Enjoyed this one," Newbold told the Syracuse Bulletin. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
