Coral Reefers Lose, 7-3, at Spirits Stadium
|
Orlando Casillas was instrumental in his team's 7-3 triumph over the Key West Coral Reefers. The second baseman went 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Salt Lake City Buzz. António Alomar got the win, improving to 7-6. He worked 6 innings, giving up 2 runs on 9 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. The Buzz improve their record to 50-44 with the win over Key West.
Alistair Mix had a big run-scoring single for the Buzz in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Salt Lake City leading 3-2 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Gerrit Zuidgeest and stroked the single to center. It was his 42nd hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Buzz ahead, 4-2.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Mix told the Salt Lake City Observer. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
