Hilfiker goes 4-for-5, Racers Move to 60-31
|
Indianapolis and Houston duked it out at Houston Park and the Racers came out victorious.
The Indianapolis Racers handed the Houston BC a loss at Houston Park. The final score was 7-4. Lauren Hilfiker was named player of the game for Indianapolis. In addition to his 3 singles and 1 home run, he scored 1 run and drove in 4. The winner was José Macías, who threw 100 pitches over 7.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs on 7 hits. Miguel Cervantes earned the save for Indianapolis, his 1st of the year.
Hilfiker had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 2-2 cutter from Ed Abood, he banged a 3-run home run to right-center, giving the Racers a 5-3 lead. It was the 25th home run of the year for Hilfiker.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Hilfiker said.
The first-place Racers, at 60-31, now lead their division by 2½ games.
