Syracuse Starks starter Octávio Ríos pitched a strong game against the Hamilton Coyotes at Coyote Wildlife Refuge, leading the Starks to a 5-1 win. Brian Peeks earned the save, his 7th, for the Starks. Hamilton has now lost 5 in a row.

Syracuse used the timely hitting of Akke Derksen to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Starks on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We take it day by day here," said Derksen, "and today was a good one for us."
