Salt Lake City Buzz starter Gunner Hines was in fine form against the Syracuse Starks at Stark Stadium, leading his team to a 5-3 win. Hines, now 5-4, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 1 earned run. Paco Manuel was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 12 of 13 save opportunities.
Salt Lake City used the timely hitting of Scott Ramsey to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Buzz on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Winning is contagious," said Hines. "We're looking forward to the next game."
The 4th-place Buzz now have a 4-game winning streak.
