Zamora Hittin' on All Cylinders
|
Martín Zamora accomplished one of the rarer feats in baseball today when he hit for the cycle against the Pennsauken Flyers in the 7-1 Sacramento Redlegs win at Pennsauken Park.
Afterward, Zamora acknowledged that his accomplishment was special, but said he was more interested in helping the Redlegs win.
"Maybe one day I'll look back on this with more meaning, but right now I just want to go out tomorrow and put some good swings on the ball and help my club win another game," Zamora said.
On his historic day, he went 4-for-4 with 4 runs batted in and 2 runs scored -- and also got a spot in the history books.
Martín Zamora singled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Fred Gunther in the 3rd, hit a two-run double in the 5th, was hit by a pitch in the 7th and tripled in the 9th.
This season Zamora is batting .364 with 16 hits, 1 home run, 10 RBIs, .391 OBP and has scored 5 runs.
