Hilfiker Lifts Racers to 10-7 Triumph
|
The Indianapolis Racers defeated the Syracuse Starks, 10-7, at Stark Stadium today. Leading the charge for Indianapolis was first baseman Lauren Hilfiker. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 5. Stephen Palmer, who went 6 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 8 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 2-1. Indianapolis goes to 48-24. The win puts them 5 games up in their division.
Hilfiker came through with some timely hitting for Indianapolis. With the score 2-1 in the top of the fifth and two down, Hilfiker hit a 0-2 changeup for a grand slam home run. His 18th home run of the season made it 6-1, Indianapolis.
