Indianapolis's Hilfiker Goes Ballistic with 5 Hits
A jubilant Lauren Hilfiker joined the postgame press conference at Speedway Field today to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Tortolita Drummers pitching staff he had just vanquished.

"It may not have looked like it," said the Indianapolis Racers first baseman, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."

That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-5 hitting performance, which led the Racers to a 11-5 win.

"He made it look easy," said Wilson Alvarado, manager of the Drummers. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."

Lauren Hilfiker hit a two-run double in the 1st, hit a GRAND SLAM off Cisco Pérez in the 2nd, hit a two-run double in the 3rd, singled in the 5th and doubled in the 7th.

This season Hilfiker is hitting .379 with 99 hits, 17 home runs, 61 RBIs, scored 58 runs and played in 68 games.
