Racers Suffer 5-1 Setback
|
Hamilton starter Matt Davenport had a strong outing against the Indianapolis Racers at Speedway Field. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 5-1 win. Davenport, now 3-4, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 3, walking 3, and allowing 1 earned run. Walid bin Amid was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.
Hamilton relied on the hitting of Warren Martin to pick up the win. The center fielder ripped a run-scoring triple in the top of the seventh inning to put the Coyotes on top, 2-0. For the game, Martin had 1 triple and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Davenport, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
The 7th-place Coyotes are now 25-26, the Racers 35-16.
