The Tortolita Drummers and Syracuse Starks provided some drama at Stark Stadium.

The Tortolita Drummers got a sterling performance from catcher Armando Chamú, but the Starks still prevailed, 7-6. Chamú was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The winner was José Ortíz in relief. His record improves to 2-2. Dan Crowder took the loss.

Syracuse center fielder Tom Smythe delivered a 2-run double in the bottom of the eighth. Overall, he went 3 for 5, including 1 home run, 1 single, and 1 double. He scored 1 run and batted in 3.

"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Smythe told the Syracuse Bulletin.

With the victory, the Starks record now stands at 22-23.
