The Indianapolis Racers got a sterling performance from pitcher Jessie Young, but the Redlegs still prevailed, 5-2. Young was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball. Sacramento reliever Lonnie Zavala got the win, raising his record to 3-2. Jessie Young was tagged with the loss. At 14-29, Sacramento is in last place in the Menard's AAA.
The Redlegs got a big at-bat from second baseman Nigel Sturges. For the game, Sturges was 1-3. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 36th hit of the season gave Sacramento a 3-1 lead.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Sacramento skipper Rich Hunter.
