Coyotes Top Drummers to Even Record
|
Hamilton Coyotes starter Zebulon Vermillion turned in a top-notch performance against the Tortolita Drummers at Coyote Wildlife Refuge. The result was a win for the Coyotes, 3-1. The winning pitcher was Vermillion, now 5-2. He tossed 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 4. Today's win puts Hamilton at 20-20, while Tortolita falls to 27-13.
The Drummers had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Coyotes going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 29-year old first baseman Scot Willis came to the plate. Willis hit a run-scoring single on a 2-2 fastball from Tortolita hurler Kabeya Kasongo. It was Willis's 39th hit of the year.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Willis.
