Redlegs Bridle Starks, 4-3
|
The Sacramento Redlegs grabbed a 4-3 win over the Syracuse Starks at Sacramento Sanitation Station. Sacramento second baseman Nigel Sturges went 2-3 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 to earn player of the game honors. Broderick Evans locked down his 1st save. The Redlegs are now 9-25, while the Starks fall to 16-18.
Sturges had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-0 fastball from Harrison Dunning, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Redlegs a 4-3 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Sturges.
Syracuse manager Ralph Wood said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
