Flyers Squelch Fighting Dachsunds Offense in Shutout Win
|
The Pennsauken Flyers got a stellar performance from pitcher Santo Velazco, who handcuffed the Ellenburg offense en route to a 5-0 win at Dog Park in Ellenburg. In 6 innings, Velazco surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. At 13-21, the Flyers are currently 10th in the Menard's AAA.
The outcome might have been different for Pennsauken, had it not been for Arturo Annunziato, the 29-year old center fielder . Annunziato stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the third inning to put Pennsauken up, 1-0. For the game, he was 3 for 5, including 1 double and 2 singles.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Flyers manager Jeff Walsh. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
