Racers Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Fighting Dachsunds
|
The Indianapolis Racers turned back the Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds, 6-5, at Dog Park in Ellenburg. Lloyd Raaijmakers was named player of the game for his fine performance. He was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI. Mark Erwin picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-0. Jet Toner was tagged with the loss. Juan Hernández earned the save, his 1st, for the Racers.
Raaijmakers had a game-changing single in the top of the ninth. On a 0-2 fastball from Jet Toner, he banged a 2-run single to center, giving the Racers a 6-5 lead. It was the 17th hit of the year for Raaijmakers.
"Feels good to get the job done," Raaijmakers said after the game.
The first-place Racers improved to 16-7.
