Tortolita pitcher Scott Thompson did his part in helping his team beat the Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds, 3-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Tortolita reliever Briggs Bourgeois got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Félix Santiago was tagged with the loss. Dave Seals got the save, the 4th for him this season.

Tortolita used the timely hitting of Qwuntrezz Knight to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Drummers on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"The more wins we pile up," said Thompson, "the more I like our chances."

The Drummers, now 13-7, have been on a roll in the early going.
