5 Straight Wins for Drummers
|
The inspired effort of Ellenburg first baseman Pedro Serano was not enough to prevent a 11-7 loss to the Tortolita Drummers. Serano went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The winner was Steve Seabolt in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Shihab bin Salim took the loss. It was the 12th win in 19 games this year for the defending champion Drummers, who are picking up where they left off.
Tortolita used the timely hitting of Armando Chamú to capture the win. The catcher socked a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Drummers ahead, 4-0. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a big one.
Chamú told a Tortolita Observer reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
