Starks Get Road Win, 5-4
|
The Syracuse Starks topped the Indianapolis Racers, 5-4, in M3L Triple A action at Speedway Field. The player of the game was Syracuse center fielder Soren Loen. Losses have been few and far between for the Racers so far this season. Their record drops to 13-5.
Syracuse used the timely hitting of Javier López to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Starks on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Indianapolis manager Rickey Jones. "But we decided not to take it."
