Buzz Fall Short, 6-5, at Sacramento
|
Salt Lake City first baseman Scott Ramsey had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Ramsey went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times, even as Sacramento beat the Buzz, 6-5. Ramsey was named the player of the game despite the loss. Keith Lawrence earned the win to go to 1-2. He allowed 4 earned runs on 5 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Bob Mullinax picked up the save for Sacramento, his 2nd of the year.
The Redlegs grabbed the lead in the bottom of the fourth. With two out, Carlos Guzmán hit a grand slam home run off António Alomar, putting Sacramento in front, 5-0. For Guzmán, it was his 1st home run of the season.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Guzmán.
Even with the win, it has been a disastrous start to the year for the Redlegs, who once had aspirations of returning to the playoffs but now find themselves mired in last place at 2-9.
