Houston Park was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Athletic Club KC Reserves and the Houston BC.
The Houston BC got a superb performance from pitcher Steve Costlow, but the Athletic Club KC Reserves still won the game, 3-2. Costlow was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 6 innings allowing 3 runs. Kamisese Alohinani got the win, improving to 1-0. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 9 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 1. The save went to Francisco González, his 3rd this season.
Francisco Vargas contributed a productive at-bat in the top of the sixth. With a runner on 1st, he hit a single. It was one at-bat that propelled Athletic Club KC to the win.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Vargas said.
The Reserves, now 4-1, have played some good baseball in the early going.
