The Syracuse Starks got a superb performance from pitcher Octávio Ríos, but the Sacramento Redlegs still won the game, 5-3. Ríos was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 6 innings of 5-hit ball. With the win, Sacramento pushes its record to 1-2.

Sacramento used the timely hitting of Tommy Dreamer to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Redlegs on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Dreamer said after the game.
