The Montana Pandas got a superb performance from pitcher Daniel Martínez. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Panama City. The Piranhas won the game, 5-3. In spite of the loss, Martínez was named the player of the game. He threw 5 innings of 2-hit ball. Ernesto López, the winner, improved to 3-1. He held the Pandas to 3 earned runs on 5 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 2 and walking 3. Joe Khokar finished the game for Panama City and earned his 9th save.
In the top of the seventh inning, designated hitter Dave Atkins came through big-time for the Piranhas. With Panama City trailing 3-2, he belted a solo home run.
"We're stringing together some nice wins," said Panama City manager Brian Talamante.
The winning streak has now reached 4 games for the Piranhas.
