Both teams had their chances, but the Houston 1837 BBC eventually prevailed at Houston Grounds.
D.C. pitcher António Castillo gave the 1837 BBC all they could handle, but in the end, Houston left Houston Grounds with a 3-2 win. Castillo allowed no earned runs on 3 hits over 8 innings. Júlio Gutiérrez got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1 innings.
Bob Dickerson was the walk-off hero for Houston. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the 1837 BBC designated hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Houston manager Tyler Johnson. "Our pregame was pretty good."
With the win, Houston goes to 40-54, while the Divided fall to 38-56.
