Hitting Streak Still Alive for Piņeiro Monday, July 21st, 2036 With 2 hits at Goodyear Hanger Dome today, Esteban Piņeiro added another game to his hitting streak -- the Akron center fielder has now hit safely for 20 games in a row. But the hitting feat wasn't enough for the Blimps today, as they fell, 5-3, to the Irving Blue Sox. "Frankly, I don't care about hits," Irving manager Bill Clark said later. "I'll let him get 3 hits in 3 at-bats if it means we get a win." Esteban Piņeiro singled in the 1st, walked in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th and hit an RBI double in the 8th. A look at his current stats shows Piņeiro with a .331 average, 4 home runs, 42 RBIs and 43 runs scored. He has played in 59 games. |
