Hits Galore: Ward Drills 6 Hits Friday, August 8th, 2036 Even as a kid, Michael Ward said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Crane Field today, Ward showed how well he learned that lesson. The 28-year-old first baseman had 6 hits in 6 at-bats for the Calgary Lynx, helping his team knock off the Santa Barbara Golden Cranes by a score of 16-5. "They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did today." Michael Ward singled in the 1st, doubled in the 2nd, hit an RBI triple in the 4th, hit a sac fly in the 5th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
