Dodgers End Vargas's Streak
Friday, July 25th, 2036
Athletic Club KC center fielder Jesús Vargas came into today's game against the Brooklyn Dodgers on a hot streak. He left on a cold one.
The Dodgers did their jobs well, beating the Athletic Club KC 6-5 and holding Vargas hitless to snap his 28-game hitting streak. The 30-year-old center fielder had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-5, telling reporters only that he "came up short."
"What Jesús did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Athletic Club KC manager Andy Mayfield. "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 28 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."
This season Vargas is batting at a .250 clip with 13 home runs and 32 RBIs.
